It is difficult to pinpoint the exact moment that this very special journey began. Varying conception and gestation dates, late monthly cycles and a plan to one day start a family that stretched back over 10 years, all make for a muddy pool of time frames that can be quite confusing.
So lets start here…
The 12 week scan, our first ultrasound
The moment when despite all the confusing dates, all the faintly lined pregnancy tests and all the doctors talk became over shadowed by this powerful image of a human being on a ultrasound machine.
This moment was undoubtedly the pinnacle of unanimous emotion for both Sacha and I, up until that point we didn’t feel like anything had changed. Sure we were going to hospitals and clinics and being told all kinds of information about due dates and trimesters, but on that day at the scan clinic we knew we were going to be parents to something real, and we walked out full to the brim with excitement.
The moment it became real
We hadn’t told any of our family about the baby until after the scan, when we truly felt like it was something we could talk about with certainty, and sitting down on Skype the following day with shaking hands and wavering nerves we finally told everyone the great news.
At this point I should probably mention that we were living thousands of miles away from our country of birth in the sea side town of Hua Hin Thailand when we made the announcement to family. We left the UK with a dream of creating a sustainable way to earn a living online so that a foundation could be built, one strong enough to support a child when the time was right. That time is now and we are so excited to see what happens next.
